Cortland Apple tree description
This all purpose apple was developed at the New York State Agricultural Experiment Station in Geneva, New York, USA in 1898. The apple was named after nearby Cortland County, New York.
After the many attributes of McIntosh were discovered, plant breeders began crossing it with other varieties to enhance its traits. One of the earliest was the Cortland, combined with the Ben Davis variety. Its flavor is sweet compared to McIntosh, and it has a flush of crimson against a pale yellow background sprinkled with short, dark red stripes and gray-green dots.
Zone 4-8. Large red apples are extra juicy, with tangy sweet-tart flavor. Excellent in fruit salads as flesh stays white after cutting. Good eating, canning and pie apple. Heavy bearing, ripens in mid to late September.

Apple Tree Pricing
All apple trees will be available
for delivery as bare rootstock.
Shipping begins mid-April once the frost is out of the ground. All plants are shipped bare root from our family nursery in Midwestern Wisconsin. Please understand that commiting to a shipment date before this time frame just is not possible, however, if mother nature is kind and the ground thaws early then the trees will ship early. Every effort is made to ensure the plants you receive are healthy and ready to plant. However, it is impossible to guarantee planting results. Weather, soil conditions, insects and proper planting all play a part in successful growth.
We are not responsible for the plants health if you choose to order a plant that will simply not grow or survive in your area based on the pictured zone map. Please order responsibly.
