Seckel Pear tree description

A must for the home orchard. Hardy and self-fertile. Hardiest bloom in the spring. Resistant to fire blight; it's reported that if any trees survive, Seckels do. The Seckel pear is considered native to Pennsylvania, though there is some mysterory surrounding its history. Fruit small, reddish-brown russet over yellow or greenish-brown. Best flavor. Flesh creamy white and sweet. Good for preserving, spicing. Thinning produces better size fruit.

Zone 4-8. Seckel has a small russet colored fruit with a sweet and spicy flavor. Excellent flavor for eating and with firm flesh is well suited for canning and cooking. Fruit ripens in late August into September. Trees offered are Semi-Dwarf growing only to 15 ft. and are blight resistant. The beautiful display of white flowers in spring is a bonus.

Available in Semi-dwarf

All pear trees will be available for delivery as bare rootstock unless otherwise noted.

Shipping begins mid-April once the frost is out of the ground. All plants are shipped bare root from our family nursery in Midwestern Wisconsin. Please understand that commiting to a shipment date before this time frame just is not possible, however, if mother nature is kind and the ground thaws early then the trees will ship early. Every effort is made to ensure the plants you receive are healthy and ready to plant. However, it is impossible to guarantee planting results. Weather, soil conditions, insects and proper planting all play a part in successful growth.

We are not responsible for the plants health if you choose to order a plant that will simply not grow or survive in your area based on the pictured zone map. Please order responsibly.
