Black Ice Plum tree description

Bred by Dr. Brian Smith from University of Wisconsin-River Falls, Black Ice exhibits many of the characteristics of Californian Plums all while being a winter-hardy plum! BlackIce™ has a dark purpley-black tender skin, with rich juicy red flesh on the inside, and free-stone pit that does not stick to the flesh. All while being winter-hardy to as low as -35 ºF (Zone 3b) and ripening 2 to 3 weeks earlier then any other large quality plum for the Midwest.

Zone 4-8. Though Zoned 4-8, Black Ice is Successfully Producing Fruit in Zone 3b. A naturally compact Dwarf tree, it grows only 8-12' tall. Nearly black fruit is large and of dessert quality for fresh eating, preserves and jelly, ripening in late August.

All Plum Trees are Priced @ $32 Each for Regular 3-4' and $45 Each for XL 6-7'

All plum trees will be available for delivery as bare rootstock.

Shipping begins mid-April once the frost is out of the ground. All plants are shipped bare root from our family nursery in Midwestern Wisconsin. Please understand that commiting to a shipment date before this time frame just is not possible, however, if mother nature is kind and the ground thaws early then the trees will ship early. Every effort is made to ensure the plants you receive are healthy and ready to plant. However, it is impossible to guarantee planting results. Weather, soil conditions, insects and proper planting all play a part in successful growth.

We are not responsible for the plants health if you choose to order a plant that will simply not grow or survive in your area based on the pictured zone map. Please order responsibly.
